"On Scatterbrain, McIntire addresses the ups and downs of a working comic's life. The bulk of the album is all laughs -- solid material on everything from having kids to the war on terror, killer stuff from one of Boston's most reliable comedy veterans -- but it's the bonus track, the one labeled "Nagasaki," that's getting the most attention. The nearly half-hour track is nothing short of a complete hell gig..."

"If Tim set out to reveal more about himself and be vulnerable on his new CD, Scatterbrain, he succeeded. He pulls off the delicate trick of turning inward without losing his persona. He is still The Reverend. Now, rather than pointing the finger at others, he's pointing it at himself. Instead of looking at obscure news stories and making them universal, he takes something universal, the birth of a child, and makes it his...It's smart and fearless. Mr. Hicks, this is Mr. Cosby."

I Smell BACON!!!

In 2001, Mike Baker and I got invited to the Chicago Comedy Festival. It was your typical industry circle jerk, with hot young comics all vying for the opportunity to show other hot young comics just who was the hottest. Everything I hate about showbiz was there in full effect: the phoniness, the egomania, the empty boasts, the desperation.

Every conversation you'd have with someone would very quickly just devolve into them listing their accomplishments and telling you how very much they had going on. Lots of posturing, peacock-style.

Mikey B and I decided that the best way to short-circuit one of these preening douchebags was to stop them mid-brag, grab them by the lapels and yell, "Wait! Are you a COP?"

Nobody else seemed to get it, but we cracked ourselves up and pissed off a good number of industry darlings over the course of the week. Then it was back to Boston where I think both of us used the lessons learned in Chicago as a chance to get our real life priorities in order.

I bring this up for one very important reason. Today, at around 2:00 pm, after the Boston Police Academy graduation ceremony, if you were to grab Mike Baker by his lapels and ask him, "Are you a cop?", well, he'd have to answer, "Yes."

Congrats, Mikey, my man. Hey, let's be careful out there.
