Weekend Roundup
First off, congrats to Peyton Manning and the Colts. I know it's heresy here in New England, but I kinda feel for the guy. What can I say? You don't need to be a psychologist to figure I'd have an affinity for someone who's great when it doesn't matter but chokes on the big stage.
It was a weird weekend in a number of ways. Mostly because my pee still smells like chili.
Spent Friday drinking beer in Framingham, Saturday doing comedy in Westfield, and Sunday watching football (and eating chili) in Reading. Very manly, eh? Also, I learned how to play "Victoria" by Old 97's on the guitar. So basically, I spent the weekend drinking beer, playing country music, and watching football. You can take the boy out of Colorado...
And just a quick shoutout to Dan Paquette, who puts on a hell of a good comedy show at Piccolo's in Westfield, Mass. I mean, when you hear you're going to be playing a bar in Western Massachusetts, you get a little nervous. And when you walk in, the whole place is about six feet wide, thirty feet long, and two stories high, you start to worry. Every bad show you ever had comes back to you, and you just know you're going to be standing on a pool table with a plastic microphone while drunken wretches try to talk over you.
I mean, you certainly don't expect a guy to open some doors in the back of the room and show you this:

80 seats or so, filled with a hot crowd (many of whom had big boobs and tight sweaters) that loved comedy. Major kudos to Mister Dan, who was damned funny himself. Anyone out in that neck of the woods should do themselves a favor and seek this show out.Labels: beer, chili, comedy, Old 97s, pee, Piccolo's, Westfield
